Wasted, is everybody wasted?

In case you missed the memo, it's always good to know that someone is around to reinforce the schema that imbibement is the only acceptable way to entertain yourself in college.  Like this guy.

That's right, administration and alumni, we've been drinking underage. Surprise! Yes, I know we're not supposed to, but consider our alternatives. Are we really going to just sit in our domiciles on a Friday night, watching people go to and from the bars and parties thinking, "Gee, only a few more years and I could be doing that!" Sure, there are some sober activities on campus, but most of us would rather play bingo at the old folks' home or read bedtime stories to sea sponges. Few and far between is anyone on campus who has seriously posed the question, "Hmm, should I go to the IMU to watch a faded movie with bad sound or get wasted at a campus keggeraider?" But even if they're serious, most of the time the answer is, "Well it depends. Will they have beer at the movie?"

At the very least, he scores points for having the fortitude to say what everyone else is thinking, but that's not enough to redeem the absurdity of his thesis.  But who's going to argue?  It's all fun and games until someobody gets hurt, right?  If there's an objective, nondependant standard of virtue out there, there are enough sheep squealing in the flock to drown it out, and you're only as good as everyone else says you are.

If what's against the norm becomes the norm...

One Year Blogiversary

Can you believe it?  I've actually been at this self-celebratory project for a solid year now.

This would normally be the time when I share with you some of the golden nuggets of wisdom that I've produced over the past 12 months, but really, I don't think I have any worth reliving.  So you can dig through the archives yourselves if you like.
