Wow, more insanely stupid stuff from Congress. According to Reuters, the Republicans in Congress voted down funding for bird flu preparations, opting to take it up next month or perhaps early next year.

Because it's more important to focus the GOP on smearing Democrats for criticizing the Bush administration's handling of Iraq, of course, than to actually save lives. I wonder how they will feel when a noticeable percentage of people in Congress start dying from bird flu. Or perhaps the health care providers for Congress have already stockpiled Tamiflu. That's actually a very good question to ask: is there a ready supply of Tamiflu for members of Congress?
