Hitachi's Fuel Cell Video Player Soroban Geeks has pictures of this fuel-cell powered portable video player from Hitachi. It uses the iVD-R cartridges for data storage (and features 'A' and 'B' button technology), so even if it were more than a prototype we wouldn't buy it. But it's nifty to get a look at what fuel cell devices might look like and how easily integrated into hardware they might be. Scott eVest Hidden Cargo Pants Reviewed $110 teflon pants better be pretty amazing, especially if they're khakis. The Scott eVest Hidden Cargo Pants aren't quite perfect, but according to Pocket Now's review, they almost justify the price. 12 hidden pockets make carrying around lots of gear pretty easy¡Xespecially since each pocket is sewn to keep bulges to a minimum (sort of an anti-Cheney technology). I'll pass for now¡XI'm not real big on khaki, even if it's extra geeky¡Xbut there is a black version coming out in the near future, they say. Siemens -> Skype USB Adapter Not Coming to US Ouch! It looks like that Skype USB adapter (the Gigaset M34) that would let owners of Siemens cordless phones use Skype voice-over-IP instead of their traditional long distance service isn't coming to the US after all. Om Malik gave them a ring to ask for a review unit and was told there aren't any plans to market the device in the States. Too bad, too. While the adapter was a bit spendy at $130 a pop (plus a Siemens phone if you don't already have one, of course), the price could quickly be made up for Skype users who make a lot a calls¡Xif nothing else, it would be a lot more convenient than sitting on a PC.
