Turning Fifty Joe is turning 50 in a couple of weeks. I can't quite get my head around it. He, on the other hand, is very comfortable with his age. In fact the older he gets, the more he seems to 'grown into himself'. Quite some time ago, a friend of ours (then much older than us) turned 50 and I remember at the time feeling that there was a kind of invinsibility shield around Joe and I that would protect us from ever reaching that ripe age. Now here we (or at least he) is. I'm sure I won't accept my half century birthday with nearly as much grace.
I'm planning a party for him at our place: about 30 people, with a big display board showing photos of him at various ages. I've had a lot of laughs going through the old photo albums! The best part is that I'm splurging and hiring a caterer to cook some of the food. That way I can enjoy the day along with Joe.
