Joe's birthday party was a lot of fun. The kids decorated the house and we put up a big poster with photos of Joe from aged two up. A friend surprized him by flying up from Vicitoria just for the party.
We had mounds of food; I think I got a bit carried away. There was roast moose, wild salmon, paella, greek and ceasar salads, Joe's favourite turnip dish, a red cabbage dish, mashed potatoes, the obligatory pumpkin cheesecake, fruit flans and cranberry/apple crisp. On top of that, friends brought some old fashioned brown bread (the kind my mom served with baked beans every Saturday night when I was growing up), some pokoras and some chicken wings.
After this huge meal, we all sat around and told 'Joe' stories. What a hoot! Then Joe played his bagpipes for everyone. I think it's fair to say a good time was had by all.
