Today was a straight shot from Pennsylvania to Indiana on I-80.  After arriving at our drop yard in Gary I was informed that I had "graduated" from my "Developmental Fleet Manager" to a regular "Fleet Manager" AKA Dispatcher.  Cool!  Over the last 2-months, Mr. S encouraged me and admonished me in helping me fit into the company's policies and procedures while on the road.  I'm grateful.  I met Mr. C, my new fleet manager, and we hit it off pretty good.  It will be interesting to see how (if anything) changes now that I've been "thrown into the pond" with the experienced drivers (as far as dispatches go).

I received my new permits for the upcoming year/months for various states as well as Canada.  In case any of us are wondering why the price of everything seems to be going up, it's due to the permits all the States/Canada have for transporting various items (beer, alcohol, paper, etc.) within their jurisdictions.  Sheesh!  Don't forget that over 80-85% of all goods we use are transported via trucks.  Anyway, I'll get to place the new permits into my permit book later on (while watching CSI!)

The one glitch that happened today is that I was supposed to drop my load off at the drop yard and let someone else deliver it tomorrow at noon.  Mr. S said informed me that I'd get a load going to Minnesota that I could pick up today or tomorrow.  However, in the midst of all the excitement of being assigned to Mr. C, both gentlemen forgot to actually rearrange the load schedule.  So here I sit.  Sigh....On the bright side, looks like I'll get to sleep in tomorrow!

Well my hot water for noodles is almost done.  So, I'll toss my Ramen noodles into the water and have a meal in about 5-minutes.  Hey--what's your favorite over-the-road cooking utensil?  The one that you just couldn't do without?  Post it!

miles driven = 534

Postscript: Instead of watching CSI (bad reception), I watched a riveting documentary on the history and everyday happenings at Arlington National Cemetery (Public Broadcasting Network).  Very informative.
