Hows That Again

Saturday, November 27th
I arrived in the greater Akron, OH area to pick up my loaded trailer at our drop yard. However, once there, I discovered that it would be a while before I got it out! There were a lot of drivers who were enjoying the Thanksgiving weekend and their tractors (and trailers) were jammed into the lot. Now it's one thing to be in a crowded mall parking lot with an automobile. It's a completely different thing to be maneuvering a 65-foot rig amongst assorted trailers and tractors! After hooking up to my trailer, I keenly became aware that I wasn't going anywhere without playing chess with the trailers in the parking lot (let's see, which trailer should I move first, second, etc.). So I unhooked and moved two trailers around. Another driver had come in by this time and took another empty trailer directly impeding everyone's progress. Later on, another driver took another trailer that helped me get out. Even so, he and I had to both back our rigs out of the lot and into the street (no big deal since it was early in the morning). Needless to say, I got my exercise in for the morning!

After that, I leisurely made my way to my fuel stop and then to a truck stop a short distance up the road.

I spent the remainder of the day on the Internet getting logged on using TravelCenters of America's wireless service (see the review here). I had a good experience--not a single disconnection and quick surfin' speeds--I'm impressed!

Tomorrow, I'm Canada bound and will deliver the goods Monday morning in northern Ontario.
