Thursday, November, 18th Well, I spent most of the day in the Minneapolis area--delivering my first load and then picking up a 2nd "relayed" load and delivering that as well. My present load is going towards Oshkosh, WI and I've hunkered down for the evening in Black River Falls.
Just for chuckles and giggles, I decided to keep track of my calorie intake for today (see yesterday's remarks on diet). Today I was running a wee bit tired for some reason. So I ingested a bit more food than I usually do. Wow--I just remembered something from yesterday. Yesterday's remarks were based on an article in USA Today. In an adjacent article, it was mentioned that you tend to eat more when you're tired. So, if you get more sleep, you'll eat less because you won't feel the need to eat (Food gives us energy). Let's see, I believe I got around 6-hours of sleep. Therefore, I probably needed sleep so I ate more than what I should have since I was tired. Note to self: get more sleep!
Anyway, back to the calorie counting for today. Here's what I ate/drank: - 60 calories - Mochatonix (dynamite chocolate coffee drink) - 00 calories - Black Coffee (no calories, but coffee overtaxes your adrenal glands; and I drink more coffee than I should. Hmm...quit coffee and I bet I'd have more energy over the long run) - 240 calories - 2 Power Bars - 500?? calories - Wendy's* single classic hamburger w/cheese along with a biggy Frosty (500 calories may be conservative here; didn't have time to ask the staff how many calories I was about to eat. Hey, I was hungry!) - 410 calories - BlueBunny NASCAR Speed Sundae (4.5 delicious oz; my wife is gonna read me the riot act about this one) - 140 calories - Cranberry Juice Cocktail (15.2 oz; get rid of all the sugar and it would probably be good for you) - 380 calories - 2 packages of Romen Noodles (6 oz total) - 10 calories - 2 tablets of Complete Greens (Dietary Supplement for when you don't eat your vegetables)
TEC (Total Estimated Calories) today is...drum roll please...1,745 calories. I didn't go over the 1,800 mark! And I've still got 55 calories to play with! Wait a sec. I'm not exercising. Poop. Well, if I was exercising the equivalent of walking 4-miles-a-day, then I'd be able to keep the weight off that I've lost (Which of course I haven't since I'm starting to gain weight. Double-Poop.
The key here is a consistent exercise program. I'm still working on that (OK I'm lazy, I admit it!) Hey, I just got a brainstorm. Once engineers figure out how to safely put trucks on auto-pilot (like airplanes), truck cabs could then be retrofitted with a complete exercise workout gym. Heck, truckers then will be some of the most buff people on the planet! 'Course that's about 50-years away. Sigh. On the bright side, I'll be approaching 100-years old and be in great shape then. (Of course I'll have to lose all the weight I've gained leading up to that time!)
miles driven = 283
* Check back here in a while--I'll try and get the exact calorie count for the Wendy's items above.
