Sunday, November 14th

Well I now know what a bobble-head figurine must "feel" like when it's bobbling!  I drove I-55 South in Missouri and my head was bobbling all about.  The trick to driving a semi is to go with the flow.  In other words, sit loose and let the bumps (and the air chair's cushioning aid) toss you around.  If you try to fight the bumps by having a ramrod posture at all times, it's only a matter of time before you will need a chiropractor.  Being overweight doesn't help the situation either!  I'm at 20-30 pounds over where I should be.  And I fear I'm starting to gain a pound here and there.  So far, the extra weight hasn't effected my long-distance driving (I used to have lower back problems many years ago; now I'm not.  Go figure).  Aside from the usual stiffness associated with sitting in a truck cab for many hours over the course of a day, my health is good.  However, I do find myself sucking air after inspecting my truck.  That ain't good!  I'm bummed about that because I've been into jogging for the past couple-of-years--and felt great.  Although I do have a mini-stairmaster in the truck, I find that I am not using it.  Besides being unmotivated, I'm a bit fatigued after a day's worth of driving.  I may use it once during the course of a week.  I definitely need to get motivated and use it more consistently.

How do you stay in shape when you're driving?  Post it so that we can all evaluate if that might work for us individually.

Well tomorrow will be another leisurely day.  I only have slightly over 3-hours of time that I can drive and be on-duty. (In 8-days, you can only work a total of 70-hours unless you do what is called a 34-hour restart which gives you a new 70-hour work week.  You can also gain hours that "fall-off."  In other words, hours worked 8-days ago are debited and then credited to the amount of hours you have remaining regarding the 70-hour rule.  Sounds complicated?  It isn't really--you just have to get the hang of it)  So, after delivering my load, I'll have roughly 2-hours available to pick up another load and/or head to a truck stop for the rest of the day.

miles driven = 286
