I am working from home this morning, as I have something to tend to in the afternoon.  As I woke up this morning, I was treated to varied NPR reports concerning the bombings in the London Underground.  As I was going to the gym this morning, I changed my AIM away message to reflect that, and I took a quick peek at the coverage on CNN

As I was at the gym, all of the news stations were focused on a variety of reports concerning the attacks.  I saw part of Prime Minister's Blair statement at the G8 Conference prior to his return to London.  The statement was quite reminiscent of those statements made following the attacks of September 11th.

As someone who has spent time in England--more specifically, studying abroad at Oxford--and who has professional dealings with other academic IT staff in the UK, my thoughts are with them.  On a technical level, I have to admit that London is one of the few places best prepared for such an attack, having dealt with such attacks through the years from the IRA.  I will grant you that is a somewhat morbid statement to make concerning these attacks.

I am listening to the NPR coverage, and I have been monitoring the coverage in the blogosphere, which has been quite amazing in its speed.  There are some good short posts here (courtesy of Scripting News), and there is a good collection of various blog links that can be found here.  Of course, the BBC would be the best source of information concerning these attacks as well.
