It has lists for all sorts of differnet programs. 3:24:38 PM     Book Reviews from Investigate a Good Book participants Sun Witch by Linda Winstead Jones: The Sun Witch was a very good read, especially if you like to read romantic fantasy. It's about three sisters that are witches; a wizard cursed their whole generation so that they would never obtain true love. The Sun Witch is the first book of the trilogy. Cold Service by Robert Parker: Parker is the best at crime novels. His characters are memorable. Nightmares and fairy tales by Serena Valentino: This was a quick read; I liked the artwork (sort of like the Ed Gorey style, a little Johnen Vasques mixed in). The story was little dull and trite and muddled in the middle. Not really any fairy tales; mostly tales in the macabre. I'd say its a 4 out of 10. Smoke and Guns by Kristen Baldock: What a lousy graphic novel! I thought it would be an interesting one by the cover, how wrong I was. Maybe it's because I try not to judge a book by its title. Take this one literally. It's about smoke (cigarettes) and guns (and how many other girls they can kill). Sheesh. Prince of Beverly Hills by Stuart Woods: Easy read. Well told story of blackmail, and the pitfalls stars face when in Hollywood. Secret Asset by Stella Rimington: Good story-well written. I've be watching for her next novel. Aya by Marguerite Abouet: I like graphic novels made by people in other countries! And, it has some Africanized French that I love so much (tonton and tantie are examples). This book is definetly worth a read. Bourne Betrayal by Eric Van Lustbader: Robert Ludlum would be happy with this protrayal of Jason Bourne. Constant action, impossible situations--I enjoyed this book. Judge and Jury by James Patterson: Best book I have read of his to date. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult: I discovered Jodi Picoult as an author when I read 'My Sister's Keeper'. In the same fashion, this book does not disappoint. It keeps you involved until the last page. Jodi has a way of developing her characters that really makes you understand a plot from each person's view point. Family Kitchen by Debra Ponzek: Didn't like this book. The cover said easy recipes for parents and kids. The recipes were not child friendly. Hard for them to read. Chicken on the Grill by Cheryl and Bill Jamison: Had some really good recipes. I was tired of just cooking plain chicken on the grill. Spanish Home Cooking by Miriam Kelen: Very good book, it gives you background to the recipes in the book. So you can learn as you cook. 30 minute get reall meals by Rachel Ray: Of course awesome book. Rachel Ray's recipes are always exciting. Creative Lettering by Becky Higgins: Gave me some good ideas for new letter types for scrapbooking and cross-stitching. 2:25:25 PM     News from Investigate a Good Book: Hackley Public Library's Summer Reading Club for Grownups Investigate a Good Book is pleased to announce that Amy Brooks, Ellen Buonassissi, and Joan DeWall won prizes this week. They will get a chance to pull a prize out of a hat when they next come into the library. The adult summer reading program runs through August, with weekly Monday morning drawings. To sign up for the program call (231-722-7276) or go into the Library and ask to sign up for the Adult Summer Reading Program.
