update Latest reports is that Roy is still in critical condition and they still don't know if he's going to make it. (update -- they now expect him to make it, they are just unsure of how long it will take.) I've since heard that the claim that the tiger was making his debut was just part of the act, and that actually makes it scarier, because that tiger had done this bit before. He knew what he was supposed to do, and something set him off.
I never thought I'd be doing Siegfried & Roy reports on this weblog.
It's kind of surreal. I guess I'm just concerned because people that I
know are concerned about this. |
oh my I've never seen them perform, and I have to admit to making jokes about them, but last night, Roy of Siegfried & Roy was attacked by one of his white tigers. He is in surgery as I write this, and he's listed in critical condition. I hope I don't wake and hear worse news. Yeah, they are somewhat over the top, and have carried on in the Liberace tradition, but basically they are very good at what they do. It means something when you see other really good magicians complimenting them on their abilities. And you have to admit, the tigers add a beauty and an edge to the performance.
The tiger was making his debut. He lunged at Roy, grabbed his throat
and pulled him offstage. Yeah, it's a cliche, but tigers are never
really domesticated. Deep down inside they are still wild, and we
certainly saw that tonight. |
