Marc's Blog
A picture named marcholtzman.jpg

I finally found a link for Marc Holtzman's website. Here's the link to his weblog, Marc's Blog and the link to the first post. He has an RSS feed. Subscribed!

He writes, "With the 2006 gubernatorial race beginning to take shape, I am excited to bring my campaign into the blogosphere. Bloggers are today's Minutemen, the often-time heroes who repeatedly astound us with their ability to expose Big Media's attempts to pull the wool over the eyes of everyday citizens."

Way to go Mr. Holtzman! Don't be afraid to talk to the voters in your own voice. Make sure to post often. Coyote Gulch will be watching.

Coyote Gulch gives the campaign good grades for the website and blog. Simple design. Nice picture of the candidate right up front. Easy sign-up for email notification. Simple navigation. The all important events link and a link to donate dough on the home page (very important). There's a cool slide show - check out his picture with Ronald Reagan.

I'd have to say that Mr. Holtzman has the inside track so far for next year's Gulchie Award.

Roberts
Political Wire: "'Democrats have decided that unless there is an unexpected development in the weeks ahead, they will not launch a major fight to block the Supreme Court nomination' of John Roberts, the Washington Post reports. Preliminary vote counts suggest Roberts 'is likely to get at least 70 votes -- enough to overrule parliamentary tactics such as a filibuster that could block the nominee.'"

Blogs for Bush: "Some on the right are worrying that Judge Roberts might turn out to be another Souter - a closet liberal just waiting to smack us all in the face after we worked for his confirmation to the Supreme Court. NRO's Bench Memos, looking over the latest Roberts documents, clears up the matter."

Water Administration & Allocation
A picture named uppermcpheesmall.jpg

One year ago (yesterday) Coyote Gulch was pointing to water issues in the Fraser River valley. (Of course the Denver Post link is dead. Sigh.) The article attributed this quote to Michael Bennet, "We recognize Winter Park and other recreational opportunities in the high country are hugely important to Denver's own economic interests. It is fantasy to believe that this state can solve its water problems unless we can figure out ways to work together."

One year later Michael Bennet has moved on to the Denver Public Schools but Mayor Hickenlooper is hoping to raise awareness and help find solutions to Colorado's water problems with the lecture series Wringing Water from the Rocks. The third lecture in the series is tonight. I'll see you there.

New Immigration Reform PAC
From today's Denver Post: "The Colorado Alliance for a Secure America has formed a political action committee to push for immigration and border-security reform.

"Chrisann Reese, executive director of the group, expressed frustration with politicians from both major parties on immigration law.

"The time has come for our state politicians and bureaucrats to wake up to the will of the people on the issues of illegal immigration and border security," she said in a statement announcing the PAC.

"CASAPAC is the state's only political action group focusing on immigration, Reese said."

Oval Office 2008: "The problem that social conservatives have is over-abundance of choice, not lack of it. The fragmentation of the social conservative vote, leaving no single candidate with enough support to beat McCain or Giuliani, is their biggest danger. Only by concentrating their support on one individual can social conservatives secure a nominee they can be happy with - and Frist's announcement will have done him no favours with this constituency."

Oval Office 2008: "The battles for the party nominations are not the only contests taking place for 2008. Both parties also need to choose locations for their national conventions - the rather dull, orchestrated balloon-fests that once determined who would get nominated, but now just rumber-stamp a decision made by primary voters six months previously."

The Moderate Voice: "Take A Peek at quite a remarkable undertaking: LeftyBlogs.com. It's a news aggregator but almost breathtaking in its Internet and political concept. The underlying idea is to put a lasting informational component into the progressive movement's infrastructure. How to do it? By scanning 600 progresssive blogs - broken down into states so readers can find them quickly - every 10 minutes, and indexing them. Constantly."

Disclosure: Coyote Gulch is indexed by LeftyBlogs.com (Thanks!) despite our unwavering attempts at objective election coverage.
