Warner or McCain for President?
Oval Office 2008: "This opinion piece by Stephen Moore in the Wall Street Journal quite neatly sets up Virginia Democratic Governor Mark Warner as the ideal 'anyone-but-Hillary' candidate for the Democratic Party, before clinically trashing him as a tax-happy liberal who can't really be trusted. For the Party, Moore says, Warner appears to be the perfect choice. He would join Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton on the list of 'Southern governors who ran as fiscal conservatives and skeptics of big government liberalism.'"
Oval Office 2008: "Here's a little sign of John McCain's preparations for 2008: Associated Press, carried in the San Francisco Chronicle, reports that the Arizona Republican Senator 'has reactivated his political action committee, known as Straight Talk America.'"

Jay Rosen on Blogher
Jay Rosen: "I am not a photographer, and did not bring a camera. But I cannot recall wanting to be a photographer more than I did when I first walked into the Andiamo Cafe Friday night and 'saw' BlogHer '05. It was just so interesting to look at. Maybe twenty rows of long picnic-style tables, all filled with women writers who, sharing various Net connections, were seeking that human connection, and starting to find it - and naturally to confer.
"According to Lisa Stone, whose idea got things rolling, the point of the BlogHer '05 was to get beyond asking: 'where are the women bloggers?' One looked around the Andiamo. Here were the women bloggers. Everyone was taking pictures because that is part of what people do at blogging conferences. I had no camera. So I took these notes instead."

Colorado Farm Bureau on C and D
Dan Haley is saying that the fight over Referendums C and D could hinge on support from the Colorado Farm Bureau in his column in th Denver Post [July 29, 2005, "Rural endorsement a prize on C&D"]. He writes, "Mark your calendar for Aug. 19. Backers of Referendums C and D - the two November ballot initiatives to reform Colorado's Taxpayers Bill of Rights - are hoping the influential farm bureau will endorse the two measures. The farm bureau commands a lot of political clout in Colorado's rural communities, and backers believe its support could help cement support for the referendums."
