State of the City
The Denver Post editorial staff reviews Mayor Hickenlooper's State of the City Address [July 15, 2005, "Mayor vows to turn vision into reality"]. They write, "It's an aggressive but achievable vision. The city will be watching to see if the mayor's implementation in the next two years matches the vision formed in the past two."

Here's the Rocky Mountain News' editorial staff impressions of yesterday's speech [July 15, 2005, "Hickenlooper not resting on laurels"]. They write, "If John Hickenlooper tends to get swept up in blue-sky ambitions like ending homelessness in our time, the Denver mayor at least keeps one foot on the ground by working on more nuts-and-bolts city issues."

Holtzman or Beauprez for Governor?
Mark Holtzman has raised nearly twice as much dough as Bob Beauprez, according to the Denver Post [July 15, 2005, "Holtzman tops Beauprez's fundraising"]. From the article, "Marc Holtzman, a relative newcomer to Colorado politics, has raised nearly twice as much as Congressman Bob Beauprez in their bids for next year's Republican gubernatorial nomination. The former investment banker, who stepped down as the University of Denver's president last month, reported $802,600 in campaign contributions as of the end of June. That compares with $403,700 reported by Beauprez, who started fundraising nearly four months after Holtzman."
