Referendums C and D
A Coyote Gulch reader has posted a nice summary of the arguments against Referendums C and D in the comments.

Mt. Virtus writes, "David Harsanyi's Post column today is a valuable read. He exposes the scare tactics and duplicity of those conducting the campaign for the forever tax increase."

Warner on Iraq
Stygius is reporting that, "Senator Warner, Armed Services Chairman, has issued a 'fair warning' blast to Don Rumsfeld that he's in for some public," scrutiny.

Wesley Clark is blogging at the TPMCafe. Clark writes, "It's really great to be joining you here at TPMCafe this week. I'd like to thank Josh Marshall for inviting me to participate in this terrific forum. I remember meeting and speaking with Josh for my first real blog interview of the 2004 presidential campaign, and I always enjoy reading his thoughts on the issues of the day.

"I'm looking forward to the dialog that we'll be having this week on many of the important issues facing America. And I'm also looking forward to sharing some of my experiences from the road during stops in Wisconsin and Iowa on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week."

The general is correct. Weblogs are a new type of conversation or dialogue.

You can't make this stuff up. KSAT.com: "The Rev. Fred Phelps, founder of Westboro Baptist Church in, Topeka, Kan., contends that American soldiers are being killed in Iraq as vengeance from God for protecting a country that harbors gays. The church, which is not affiliated with a larger denomination, is made up mostly of Phelps' children, grandchildren and in-laws." Thanks to TalkLeft for the link.

Katrina
A picture named katrina829am.jpg

Here at Coyote Gulch our thoughts are with the people down New Orleans way. Good luck y'all.

Here's the Red Cross donation page.

Jeralyn Merritt, writing on 5280.com - Elevated Voices says that, "The Denver chapter of the Red Cross is seeking 300 volunteers to man the hurricane call center for victims of Katrina."

Here's an aggregator for storm news set up by Matthew Gross.

Iraqi Constitution
The permanent Iraqi constitution was presented to parliament on Sunday. Juan Cole writes, "So they had the ceremony, and the drafting committee (minus Sunni Arab members) presented the final draft of the permanent Iraqi constitution to parliament on Sunday. But parliament did not vote on it. The Sunni Arabs did not attend. Parliament has abdicated its responsibilities toward the constitution and put it in the lap of the October 15 national referendum. Al-Hayat aptly said that the Iraqi constitution has been delivered by caesarian section. It was plucked from the womb of the drafting committee before the latter could give birth to it naturally. Sunni negotiator Salih Mutlak called it 'a minefield.'"

Bull Moose: "Maybe Rudy should replace Rummy."

? for Governor
Colorado Luis looks at the governor's race. He writes, "I know there are a lot of folks out there who would rather see Ken Salazar run for governor than remain in the Senate. This includes a lot of people on the left who quite frankly think his occasional embrace of dumb/conservative ideas would do less damage in the governor's mansion or that his environmental consciousness would do more good in Denver than as just another outnumbered Democratic senator in DC. I, however, am glad that Salazar has decided to remain in the Senate instead of running for governor in 2006 -- even if John Hickenlooper also stays out of the race."
