2003 Denver Mayoral Election

Replacing the current city jail is the subject of this article from the Rocky Mountain News. From the article, "As he or she (the next mayor) weighs what is already shaping up to be one of the more ambitious building project's on the city's horizon, there are several critical decisions yet to be made." What do the mayoral candidates say about the jail?

Don Mares hits the airwaves this Sunday according to the Rocky Mountain News. The News says, "Mayoral candidate Don Mares stresses his experience and integrity in a TV campaign ad that debuts Sunday." One pundit labels the ad "beige" while another calls it "bland." Ouch. I hope they post it on the website as Zavaras and Hickenlooper have done. If you do post it Don, make sure that it is in a cross-platform format or several formats so that you show inclusion for all computer users. The Denver Post is also running an article on Mares' ad.

The Denver Post reports on the mayoral forum yesterday dealing with homelessness. From the article, "St. Francis executive director Tom Luhers said that he was 'disappointed' that the other candidates did not attend. The other four candidates - Susan Casey, Don Mares, Elizabeth Schlosser and Penfield Tate - told Luhers they had scheduling conflicts. Mares sent a representative."

2003 Denver Election for City Council - District 9

City Council District 9 is highlighted in this article from the Rocky Mountain News. Says the Rocky, "The sprawling district stretches from the Baker area at Broadway and Alameda, north past the Auraria campus and lower downtown into Globeville and the Mousetrap. To the east, it encompasses the Swansea/Elyria area, and to the west it envelops the Highland and Sunnyside neighborhoods east of Zuni Street." The Rocky also has a snapshot of the District.

Information on District 9 candidates is available on DenverGov.
