2003 Denver Election for Auditor
Here's a link to Auditor Don Mares' proposal to change the charter on elected official pay raises going into effect with the next administration. There's a flap between Landri Taylor and two of the current council members, Dennis Gallagher and Debbie Ortega. Here are the new salary figures and a link to coverage of the vote by the Rocky Mountain News.

2003 Denver Mayoral Election

Coloradans keeping a close tab on the Denver Mayoral race are invited to tune in to "The Aaron Harber Show" this week on KBDI Channel 12, as we present Part Two of our coverage of the candidates. Guests will include Don Mares, Elizabeth Schlosser, and Ari Zavaras. Please note that this episode will be a full hour, instead of the usual thirty minute format, with different broadcast times (the broadcast begins at 9:00 pm on Friday rather than the show's usual time of 9:30 pm). Aaron's questions to the candidates will include "What went wrong with the "Spy Files?'" "What is so special about your background which qualifies you for the position?" "What do you think Wellington Webb's biggest mistake was?"

2003 Denver Municipal Election
It looks like smooth sailing ahead for the bond issue that will enable expansion of Denver Health. The Denver Post reports, "Some 60 percent of Denver voters support a bond issue for a $148 million expansion to the Denver Health Medical Center."
The Post is also reporting that it looks like smooth sailing for Initiative 100.

2003 Denver Election for Auditor
The Rocky Mountain News has a short article about the candidates for Auditor and their plans for TV ads. From the article, "Three of the five candidates hoping to be Denver's next auditor have hit the airwaves in a last-minute television blitz they hope will propel them into the office."
Update: E-mail from Dennis Gallagher's campaign to the Rocky this morning:
"Just read your piece in today's Rocky regarding the TV commercials in the Auditor's race. I have not seen Landri Taylor's ad, but if indeed it does say, as you report, that Gallagher (and Ortega) voted to approve the elected officials' pay raise, that is a complete inaccuracy."

2003 Denver Mayoral Election
Environmental issues are the subject of this in-depth look from the Denver Post. From the article, "While water makes good campaign fodder during a record drought, Denver's next mayor will face other resource issues that will last longer and require more political finesse, according to those who know Colorado's political and environmental landscapes."
Mayoral candidates are still running hard with a week to go according to this article from the Rocky Mountain News. The Denver Post has a short article highlighting John Hickenlooper's newest ad and Ari Zavaras' small business plan.
The Rocky has an article on each mayoral campaign headquarters office and a short editorial prasing John Hickenlooper's ideas on parking.
