2003 Denver Mayoral Election
Kudos to Ari Zavaras' campaign. They've fixed the file format problem I was having on my MacIntosh. I can now view the Zavaras TV spots. Now on to my Linux desktop.

2003 Denver Municipal Election - Events 4/28-5/5
I've posted events from e-mail from candidates, here, here, and here. The Mares' campaign e-mail lists the community events in the mayoral race.
There are still a bunch of meet and greets, fundraisers, and other events listed on candidate websites. You can get to any candidate website from this link on DenverGov.
One of the big events this week will be a mayoral forum on Tuesday at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, 11:30AM-1:30PM, fourth floor board room. Most city employees were notified in e-mail about this one. Ethics is the subject but I'll bet if they let employees ask questions there'll be a couple about potential layoffs and other budget cutting/revenue enhancing measures. Heh.

2003 Denver Election for Auditor
Dennis Gallagher's contibutions are under scrutiny by the Denver Democratic Party. Questions are being asked about the status of "North Denver Democrats" headed by Gary Sulley. The front runner in a campaign is often targeted for this type of look, just ask Ari Zavaras.

2003 Denver Mayoral Election
The Denver Post has a story (and nice graphics) on a new poll from the Post and 9News. As in last week's Rocky Mountain News/News4 poll John Hickenlooper is far out in front of the pack with Don Mares' second and Ari Zavaras a distant 3rd. Tate is moving up and will hit TV this week. The Post poll shows 30% still undecided while the News poll showed undecided voters rising from 10% to 19%. All in all the article is a nice analysis and summary and shows that of the two positions in the runoff only one has been decided (Hickenlooper). However, according to the article, "Hickenlooper could face some problems over the next few days, according to Atkinson, who called him 'vulnerable' to attacks from his opponents." Will Susan Casey keep running a nice campaign or will she now start attacking one of the front runners to help a candidate she'd like to see win? Will Mares or Zavaras or Tate or Hickenlooper break their no negative campaigning pledge? We already know that Schlosser wants to help Hickenlooper. Can Perington be a factor at all? I love it, stay tuned
Here's another poll from the Post that deals with voter impressions and name recognition of the candidates. The two polls are tracking closely. Mares and Hickenlooper both have high positives and are leading in both polls. Zavaras' low positive ratings indicate, according to Floyd Ciruli, that his only chance is to go on the attack. Zavaras has indicated, as late as last Friday, that he will not go negative.
