Short rules ok - Glad to see that some brevity is returning to Jonathon's posts. I was thinking they were just getting too long.
How long is too long?
Well contrary to popular belief one can have too much of a good thing. Anything is too long when one's mind wanders before whatever-it-is has finished.
Now don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean you can't come back for more [like a great John Grisham novel for example - although how anyone can put one down, I don't know] but it is meant to be consumed in one sitting - like a meal, or a sermon, or a blog entry - then one's mind shouldn't be forced to wander to keep itself amused :-)
Or should it?

Swallowed up by life - For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. [2 Cor 5:4]

Death to Life - My Grandma died this morning. My Mum and Dad were by her side in their home. She went peacefully and quietly. The best way I think. Not in a hospital. Not in a nursing home. Not with strangers. But at home. With family. Naturally.
Naturally - that's a funny thing to say about death. Death was never meant to be a part of life. We were never meant to die, but rather to live forever. That part of the plan is changed for ever. Now we need to die in order to enter living forever.
The Coming of the Lord Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.
