Saudi Peace Plan or Ploy? Anne Applebaum of Slate.com tackles the Saudi plan, noting that it does not deal with the issue of Palestinian refugees and the "right of return". She states: There is no evidence that the Arab world is ready to recognize the Israeli right to exist, and certainly no evidence that the Arab world is ready to give up the Palestinian refugees' "right of return" to Israel. Since the Israelis will never accept the refugees—and their many millions of descendants—it is hard to imagine how we get around this one. 11:10:33 PM     Canucks in Kandahar (and elsewhere) The CBC reports that in light of the increasing involving of Canadian troops in the War in Afghanistan and their increasing combat role the Canadian Department of Defense plans to provide more information on their activities. So far Canadian snipers have held positions during the fighting and other troops are held in reverse. 11:02:57 PM     The Haida First Nation has filed a lawsuit claiming ownership of the entire Queen Charlotte Islands and the surrounding waters including potentially billions of barrels of underwater oil reserves.
