"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

[2:39:42 PM]
I watched Casablanca last night.

"What if you murdered all of us? From every corner of Europe, hundreds -- thousands -- would rise to take our places. Even Nazis can't kill that fast."

Ariel Sharon has a bit of a problem. Mostly it's himself. Non-state terrorists seek to provoke retaliation from the state against the population, in order to get the population to support the terrorist's agenda.

Sharon has done his part to promote terrorism, by retaliating bluntly. One presumes Sharon is not an idiot, and it's clear that Sharon's agenda moved ahead because of increasing attacks.

Comically parroting Bushisms -- "unity" and "against terrorism" -- won't help Sharon much now, though. He can't assassinate Palestinians fast enough to make daily life safe for Israelis. The faster he kills, the more people will fight against him.
