"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Terrorism. Give us a break. King George would have called Americans terrorists in the American Revolution. Daddy Bush's Contras were terrorists, by any definition. Mining harbors is the act of a rogue state.

Does the State have a monopoly on legitimate violence? Why should it be reasonable for a state to terrorize citizens, while you call it terrorism for citizens to fight back? Israelis use a helicopter to whack a Palestinian, but Palistinians are terrorists if they kill an Israeli.

You can define things any way you want, if all you want is to prove to yourself that you're a good-guy. If you want peace, that's not nearly enough.

Axis of evil: hate, greed, power. This is the Republican party today. It's not what Abraham Lincoln stood for, but he's dead. Ralph Reed, Ken Lay, and Dick Cheney are alive.

It's time for the United States Air Force to refuse to be assassins. It's time for the government to stop asking them to assassinate specific leaders.

Assassination may seem to be a high-leverage tactic: you kill the leaders. It's a fascist approach; don't do it. Fight battles. Bring individuals to trial. Otherwise, you earn hatred and contempt. You justify terrorism.

"Let's Roll". The story is of citizens refusing to be used to kill other citizens. It *isn't* a story about invulnerable, unaccountable, high-tech assassins who see a truck on a road, and decide to kill whoever's in it because they might be bad-guys.

The Enron-Cheney-Taliban Connection [alternet.org].

How bin Laden got away [csmonitor.com]: Is the United States military really this stupid, or did they want the Al Qaeda fighters to get away? We'd like to think it is just incredible incompetence. Certainly it seems like it.

[10:46:15 PM]
Maybe Sharon thinks he only needs to increase the death ratio. Israelis have been killing three Palestinians for every dead Israeli. Yesterday it was five Palestinians. This is improvement?
