Condition Red for terrifying warnings about potential terrorists!

Now that General Ashcroft has a prison outfitted for U. S. citizen enemy combatants, we see the start of a new wave of arrests. The uptick in terrorism warnings has been startling. The effect on the stock market is immediate. The effect on the economy will be long-term. Alas, there's no other way to justify the war on Iraq.

We presume Karl Rove has decided that the economy is already so bad there's no way to put a happy face on it for the elections. The only way out is forward -- use terror and war in a desparate attempt to save the elections. Blame the recession on terrorism and Iraq and obstructionist Democrats. Label critics "unpatriotic". Show results -- make lots of arrests, find more "gassed-puppy" videos. Hope you hit the trifecta again -- a terrorist strike, a failing economy, and the war on Iraq.
