"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Ick. Even my parrot wouldn't watch Ann Coulter on TV....

What if she were a left-wing hate-monger, instead of a right-wing hate-monger?

"My only regret with Osama bin Laden is that he did not manage to kill every member of the Wall Street Journal editorial staff."

"In this recurring nightmare of a presidency, we have a national debate about [George W. Bush's stolen presidency].... Otherwise there would be debates only about whether to impeach or assassinate."

"We need to execute people like Ann Coulter in order to physically intimidate conservatives, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn out to be outright traitors."

The party of Abraham Lincoln has fallen damned low when it lets Coulter cover for them like that.

Talk like Coulter's inspires feeble-minded kooks to actual acts of terrorism -- McVeigh, and that nut with the bombs in the mail boxes are not nearly rare enough.

We are a community, and we need to play by civil rules. Remember "tone down the rhetoric"? No hate-mongering.

As Eric Alterman puts it:

It's degrading to have to write about Coulter again [thenation.com].

General Ashcroft's stormtroopers busted down the door in a raid on a medical marijuana growers group in Santa Cruz. But then the AIDS and cancer victims who use the stuff blocked the driveway, and the stormtroopers had to call the local police to rescue them from their dying besiegers.

sfgate.com: "What a bunch of babies these DEA guys are," said one disgusted Santa Cruz officer, who did not want to be identified. "They're up there with all these agents, but they see a bunch of pot-smoking sick people on the road, and they have to call us for help."

Man... Israeli-Jewish propaganda in the New York Times. Who would have thought?

"Few Palestinians have challenged the historical revisionism now increasingly prevalent in Arab culture that denies the ancient roots of Jews in this land, the existence of the gas chambers and even Arab involvement in the Sept. 11 attacks."

Ancient roots of Jews are hardly relevant to terrorism and ethnic cleansing by Jews in 1948 or 2002. Nor are they relevant to political and economic repression in 2002. "Existence of gas chambers" certainly suggests that Jews should find a safer place to live, but doesn't inherently mean they should steal a country through terrorism in 1948. To mention Arab involvement in the September 11 attacks is worse than irrelevant -- it's terror baiting.

There's a clean offer for peace on the table. Jewish Israeli hate-mongers and war-mongers will stop at nothing to distract the world from the fact that the choice is between peace and expelling the Palestinians from the West Bank.

This particular NYT propaganda-piece cloaks its message in a story of a spiritual quest for understanding -- it's supposed to be up to the Palestinians to go spiritual and accept Israeli oppression in order to make peace. No.

Israel should stop terrorizing Palestinians, return the settlements, give the water back, and help the new Palestinian state become prosperous and democratic enough for the masses to support repressing terrorists. The only losers in that scenario are racist hate-mongers -- Jewish, Christian, and Muslim.

(Why is it that in the New York Times, Palestinians who hate Jews are racists, but Jews who hate Palestinians aren't?)

You know, being oppressed can be humiliating and wretched. Being the oppressor is far worse for the soul.
