I just sent an e-mail off to the Baseball Hall of Fame:
I am appalled by the Hall of Fame's recent cancellation of the Bull Durham celebration because of the anti-war views of Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins.
Gee - when I last checked, freedom of speech and the right to dissent are key parts of the First Ammendment to the Bill of Rights. Evidently the Hall of Fame has forgotten all about the Bill of Rights.
As a result, of The Hall of Fame's action, I am ashamed to be a baseball fan.
Dissentingly yours (and yes, contrary to what you might think, it is my right to dissent),
Stephanie A. Kesler
In the grand Iraq War scheme of things, the Baseball Hall of Fame's cancellation of the 15th anniversary celebration of the great baseball movie Bull Durham is not earth shattering. However, it is sickening at its own level.
Doug Pappas says it best on his great Business of Baseball blog. He's tracking the whole affair - and it seems to be getting bloodier by the day.
By the way, click here, if you want to let the Hall of Fame know what you think.
