After hearing the Folksmen's version of the Rolling Stones' Start Me Up on Fresh Air, I ran right out and bought the soundtrack to A Mighty Wind for Peter.
The soundtrack is a scream - such earnest folk music and very well done. The New Main Street Singers in particular just kill me.
The ultimate, though, are the Amazon user reviews. The reviews alternate between heartfelt paens to folk music and wise-ass delight in the spot-on parody.
I about keeled over at the end of Start Me Up - the Folksmen perfectly harmonize the lyric She could make a dead man come.
I suppose I need to come clean (so to speak). I have never really liked folk music. I know I should, but it has just never worked for me. And six different boyfriends, the latest being Peter, have worked very hard to convert me to folk music. It just never takes.
