Speaking of politics, NPR's Morning Edition ran a nice little story on Lisa Murkowski, Alaska's new U.S. Senator. I'm a big Lisa fan: she is my neighbor and was Government Hill's State House representative. She's smart, fair, and works very hard. Quite unlike her Dad (our governor).
I just hope she doesn't get corrupted out of her identity by National politics.

Monday evening, the PBS News Hour did a piece on blogging. It wasn't too bad. Although, I do admit that I squirm a bit when the mainstream media attempts to explain blogging. They sound bite it. As a result, we all end up sounding like nerds - which maybe we are.
But the stories consistently miss the essence of blogging. Rarely does the mainstream media touch upon creativity and voice. Instead, the media gets all wrapped up in warblogs and politics. The whole is-blogging-journalism conflaguration. Nothing about community and connections.

We have had the most amazing five days of weather. We set record highs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No wonder the ice went out so early!!!!!
To top it all off, the leaves have just exploded out onto the trees. They usually don't arrive until Mother's Day weekend. It definitely feels like mid to late May!
I hope this isn't it for our summer - that we'll get these few amazing April days and then bammo: 45 degrees and rain for the rest of the summer. We Alaskans tend to be a bit paranoid about these things!
