It's been quite a day of "people-izing." Hanging out with Charles this afternoon and then a delightful dinner this evening with my Dad's wife, Mei-Ling and our dear family friend, Carl Duncan. What a perfect day!

Mei-Ling and I haven't seen each other since Dad's wake eight months ago. She looks fabulous and is doing really well. Mei-Ling, Carl, and I had a good time catching up. We can now talk about Dad without breaking into sobs. Emotionally, that's a bit of a relief. All that sobbing is draining - so to speak.

Guess who this is?!

If you guessed Charles you win the prize.

We met at Uncommon Grounds (obviously a java joint) and had a great two hour conversation. I think it's safe to say (at least from my viewpoint) that we hit it off big time. Meeting a fellow blog buddy is interesting - one's entire relationship prior to meeting has been developed via blogs, blog comments, and the occasional e-mail. An actual face-to-face meeting is unusual. You go from basically a two dimensional space to a three dimensional space. Both physically and mentally.

Charles looks nothing at all like I imagined. The picture to the right is not of a typical young Republican. There is also so much more to him than just his delightful blog. He's complex - blogs just don't transmit an individual's complexity. Charles is very very smart and funny. He has quite a life ahead of him.

Plus - he thinks that I'm petite! What a keeper!
