Nice post from Niek describing why he likes to blog. And, at least as far as I'm concerned, he nails it:
...No, I don't give much for all the geek salvation theories on how blogging will change our lives and make this world a better place.

...for me weblogs are just another way to put stuff on the Internet. Nothing more, nothing less. But I kinda like the format, because it let's me easily jot down short pieces of writing, thoughts, ideas, tidbits, links, pictures, etc. and, - more or less naturally...

Today, I was reminded that I work for a great company. Next week, GCI is going to roll out a major new promotion. With a promotion of this size and importance, internal communication is critical. Some companies, if they bothered to communicate at all, would do it via e-mail. However, GCI did it right. We held two company meetings at the Wilda Marston theatre, conducted teleconferences for our rural offices, and visited work sites early this morning to meet with graveyard shift workers

I attended the first meeting at the Wilda Marston Theatre. The employees were very enthusiastic, very supportive, asked lots of questions, etc. It was a great "community" event and the enthusiasm was infectious.

It was a good day to be at work.
