I am futzing around with my spiffy new Garmin eTrex Vista GPS and Garmin's Mapsource software.

Peter and I are traveling to Iowa City at the end of this week for Peter's brother's wedding. We're flying in to O'Hare and driving to Iowa City. So, I being a geek with a new GPS wanted to download the turn by turn driving instructions and map from the Mapsource software on my PC to my eTrex.

The route downloaded to my GPS just fine. But there are no turn by turn instructions. Instead, abbreviated names are printed for the turn by turn points but no actual directions. I realize that the eTrex being a GPS may not need turn by turns - one just follows along with the satellite and turns where the map says to turn. But I like a backup. What if we're in the midst of a solar flare and the satellites aren't working?

And speaking of a backup, at the very least, I'd like to be able to print the turn by turn instructions from my computer. But that doesn't seem to be possible either.

Time to check in with tech support!

My buddy Jo Antonson was the top Alaskan woman finisher in the New York Marathon - her time was 3:46:01.

Jo handily beat P. Diddy who finished in 4:14:54.

Jo is definitely "Da Woman!"
