Today's adventure was the removal of a fibroma (a big 'ol lump of tissue) from the inside of my left cheek.
I have to say that having the inside of my mouth carved out and then stitched up is not high on my list of fun things to do. However, even though I was not having a good time at all, I stayed very still, didn't moan or groan, and was very cooperative. But, I was a totally relieved (albeit a tad shaky) camper when the procedure was over.
My surgeon commented that I was an excellent patient. I responded with a "tank you." (Th's are difficult when novacaine, gauze, and stitches are involved).
I could have also replied that I've lots of practice being a patient...I should be pretty good by now...
The surgeon was quite concerned about post-procedure pain. I, of course have a very well stocked pharmacopia. But, it's been my experience that what really works well for me post operatively is just simple ibuprofen (advil). So, right now I'm only on advil and I'm experiencing just a smidge of discomfort and swelling. Not bad at all...
