Geez, the Yankees just scored another two runs in the bottom of the sixth. So, now they're ahead 3-0 and the Bosmos have just got one hit. Is that total suckage or what?

And of course, right during this time of major crises and events - the Radio Userland site appears to completely dead. That means that all of my blog posts are sitting on here on my little laptop trying to upstream to the non-responsive mothership.

This would also explain why the Salon political blogs are not working - they too use Radio Userland.

This is extremely bad timing for the Userland folks. Not sure if it's a coicindental thing or if they're swamped by huge user numbers.

Bottom of the 6th. Still 1-0 Yankees.

Fifteen minutes to go in the debate - it seems as if at the very least, Kerry is holding his own.

Today is a good day to be an Alaska Resident. It's Permanent Fund Dividend payout day. And just what is The Permanent Fund? To quote from the fund's website:

At least 25 percent of all mineral lease rentals, royalties, royalty sales proceeds, federal mineral revenue-sharing payments and bonuses received by the state be placed in a permanent fund, the principal of which may only be used for income-producing investments.

For the past twenty years, we've receieved an annual dividend based on the Permanent Fund's annual earnings. This year's dividend is $919.84. Certainly not chump change.

This is definitely a big spending day - lots of cars, washing machines, pedicures, computers, etc. are scooped up.

Is this sick or what?!

Instead of watching the debate or the Red Sox-Yankees game, I'm sitting here at my computer flipping back and forth between ESPN's gamecast of the baseball game and CNN's running commentary on the debate. I have so much emotional investment in both events that I'm afraid I'd have a nervous breakdown if I watched either of them live. God knows what would happen if I watched both of them live at the same time.

So, as I type, New York is ahead 1-0 and it appears as if Kerry is doing o.k. in the debate. But I'm not sure.
