Gads - this series has been just hideous. The Red Sox have been outpitched, outhit, and outplayed every step of the way.

For this series at least, (and Pooh is going to shoot me for saying this), the Yankees are the definitely the Red Sox's daddy.

We had a little rumbler this afternoon at 1:18 PM - a 4.3 quake. However, for such a little, guy the Partnow Manse definitely shook.

Here's the quake's location map:

Friday was the second anniversary of Dad's death. Friday evening, Dr. L. told me about the Jewish mourning tradition of Yahrzeit - lighting a candle in remembrance of a loved on the anniversary of their death. The Yahrzeit candles burn for 24 hours.

I thought that was a pretty nifty tradition and mentioned it to Peter when we got home later that evening - I couldn't remember the name "Yahrzeit" but I did manage to describe what Dr. L. told me about - lighting a remembrance candle thingie which burned for 24 hours.

Well, Peter hopped out his chair, zoomed over to the kitchen cabinet and pulled out, of all things, a fully loaded Yahrzeit candle. I was dumbfounded. So, we lit the candle and recounted a few Dad memories and watched the candle start burning. I then asked Peter how the candle makers knew how much wax to put in it so that the candle would burn for 24 hours. Peter replied that centuries of rabbinical studies determined the exact amount of wax required.

Here's a picture of Dad's candle - and yes it burned exactly 24 hours.
