"Remember the book 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus'? Well, here's a prime example offered by an English professor at a U.S. University" [here]. Go here to find out the history of this particular urban legend.

Even after passing a congressional resolution to use force against Iraq, the U.S. is backing down on this point as the U.N. Security Council refuses to endorse Bush's demand for military action [here].

Under the French approach, the first resolution would toughen U.N. inspections and warn Iraq that it will face consequences, including the possible use of force, if it doesn't comply with inspections. The second would authorize action against Iraq if it failed to cooperate.

This is the right approach. The U.S. is showing that we have the will to stop Saddam and the U.N. is showing that they have the patience to see that it is done correctly. This should send a strong message to Saddam and, ultimately, stands that best chance of averting military confilict. However, I have little confidence that Saddam will cooperate so easily, but, it is better to do things equitably and give Iraq a chance to cooperate. If military action becomes necessary, at least we will be confident that we did everything we could to solve these issues diplomatically.

A friend of mine sent me this link. This guy has created a website that mimics the Windows 2000 interface. He says that it uses no Java, Flash or ActiveX. It must use heavy Javascript and DHTML. Anyway, it's pretty cool conceptually, but in practice, it isn't very usable.

Since I'm on the topic of atheism, check out Positive Atheism. Thanks, Chris, for the link on your weblog.

Here are just a few of the reasons why I am an atheist

Jesus, Buddha, Moses, Mohammed, John Calvin, Martin Luther, Ellen White, Myung Sun Moon, Joseph Smith, L. Ron Hubbard, Charles Russell, Epicurus, Nietzsche, Ayn Rand...

None of these people can agree on anything. Why would anyone believe any one of them over another? It makes absolutely no sense to criticize one belief based on another belief. The only thing that makes sense is to see all of these ideas of God as a whole. With so many differing beliefs to choose from, in all likelihood none of them is correct.
