If you're interested in knowing about some esoteric HTML tags, like <q>, <abbr>, and <acronym>, check out Ivan Linderman's talk to Silicon Valley STC tomorrow night (Thursday): "The Best Markup That Never Was." Ivan gave a stirring, information-packed presentation at last night's meeting in Santa Cruz, including some background on semantics and linguistic ambiguity leading into why using these tags judiciously can improve user's understanding of Web text. Fascinating, especially for someone like me, who's absorbing the intricacies of cascading style sheets as rapidly as possible. Ivan's slides and handouts are available at http://www.xhtmlchef.com/stc2004.asp.
