Jim Highsmith has some solid theories about how designing a box for your product (even if it will never ship in a box) is useful for focussing the overall product vision.

I wonder what a JIRA box would look like. Maybe we'll brainstorm this next week. [Joel on Software]

Must be an Apple day today.

Steve Jobs and the History of Cocoa, Part Two - describes the long and painful labour Apple went through giving birth to OSX. Also Tim O'Reilly Explains Why Mac OS X Might Be the Next Big Thing (from his speech at Apple WWDC).

Apple's Jaguar - sliced and diced - sounds like OSX 10.2 is going to be a great leap forward. Running it on an iBook as I am (that TiBook is beautiful but too large for me to carry around) I can't wait to see the new power saving features and speed increases!

Why? Perhaps because you guinea pigs seem to be impressed. Very impressed. Jaguar gets an overwhelmingly positive verdict, even though Steve, in his campest tease-mode, claimed that this was "not even Alpha code".. A straw poll unanimously preferred the beta to the current public release, 10.1.4.
As always, Apple remains one of the most innovative technology companies. [The Register]
