Microsoft's $1 Billion Bet on Xbox Network. Called XBox Live it will allow anyone with an XBox, likely with a $USD 9.95 monthly fee, to play games online.
"You're looking at a service that will become a new phone network overnight," said Richard Doherty, president of Envisioneering, a research and consulting firm in Seaford, N.Y. "By Christmas, Microsoft could become the nation's fourth-largest phone company."

Rumour : Seems like Yahoo, in renegotiations over its contract with Google, tried to buy the search company outright. $700 million was the offer, rebuffed with a counter offer of $2 billion. I personally would prefer Google to remain independent. They have a understanding of the Internet and its users that Yahoo has lost.

I saw Episode II last night and was trying to collect my thoughts on it before posting. Seems that someone else has already done that.
The Evil Gerald Online - Triumph for Lucas as Star Wars film hailed as "not shit": "Peter Walker of the Evening Standard has been even more effusive. Is there any doubt that Peruvian Congressman Edgar Nunez wil become one of the icons of the Open Source movement? Never have I seen such a solid, clearly thought out and thorough rebuttal of Microsoft's FUD.
In the same spirit, and convinced that we will find the best solutions through an exchange of clear and open ideas, I will take this opportunity to reply to the commentaries included in your letter.
This is a nice way of saying - thanks but no thanks. Your arguments are poor, mine are better.
If anyone out there needs to convince their company / organisation / government to embrace free software - forget Gartner - take advantage of the excellent free research done for you by the Peruvian government. [The Register]
