Wired on the new Apple XServe:
Nifty Apple Server; Dull Launch. Apple shows off the Xserve -- its first new server in 15 years -- and in the process achieves another first: a boring Apple product launch. Leander Kahney reports from Cupertino, California.
The management tools look excellent, even if the look of the machine itself isn't so inspiring. I still want one. [Wired News]

The Community Review drafts of JSP 1.3 (JRA-152) and Servlet 2.4 (JSR-154) specifications are available.

Also there's a new specification for Instant Messaging within Java which looks very interesting - JAIN Instant Messaging (JSR-187)

"JAIN Instant Messaging is a protocol agnostic API for Instant Messaging. It provides a standard portable and secure interface to control, manage and manipulate instant messages between clients through the use of presence servers."

I wonder what protocols it will support out of the box.
