I gave a demo of OSWorkflow today to my co-workers and received a somewhat muted response. Well, a 1.0 release is coming right around the corner (only documentation is left to write - yuck!) and I'm very proud of the capabilities that this module can do. I hope that when it is realised I can get some serious feedback from a large group of users and make the next release even better.

There are only two Open Source J2EE workflow packages - OSWorkflow and OFBiz's workflow module - and it's great to see OSWorkflow approaching 1.0. It's a great component which deserves more coverage. Now download, play and evanglise it to your friends! ;) [PSquad's Corner]

Wow - see blogs are cool for learning about people. See, I learned that Patrick has an XBox!

OK, just bought the High Definition module for my XBox: wow! Every game looks totally crisp. The default output is 480p, but some games (very few) like Halo support higher resolutions, which look even more fantastic. This XBox keeps blowing me away, especially on my new 47" HDTV. Now all I need is progressive scan DVD player (can XBox do that?) and digital cable that broadcasts HDTV (I face north, so I can't get DirectTV).

Now if only the HD module worked in Australia and I had an HDTV... [Patrick Lightbody's Radio Weblog]

Patrick now has a weblog run by Radio too - great! He's one of the core OpenSymphony developers and a good bloke. If you're a J2EE reader - subscribe to his feed and send him an email to say G'day, I'm sure he'll have lots of interesting things to say.

Just subscribed to Good Experience and got this in their first newsletter - an amusing parody of an overly litigious world:
My cynical side wants to see a serial lawsuit: someone rides a German train, dumps hot coffee on himself, causing burns. So the rider sues McDonald's for making their coffee hot, McDonald's sues Deutsche Bahn for having a bumpy ride, and Deutsche Bahn sues Google for searching a Web that isn't exclusively used by upstanding citizens. Maybe Google could sue humanity for being naughty, and Register.com could send everyone an unsolicited bill for $35.

There are Mozilla 1.0 release parties all across the world. Sydney has one, so does Melbourne (the Aussie Mozzie party - like it), and those damned Kiwis are always claiming theirs is the 'first in the world'.

Paolo is using his iPod to run Radio and transfer it between his home and work. I use an iBook to do this, but an iPod is twice as cool.

Peter FitzSimons on the ABC citing Australian keeper Adam Gilchrist for speaking his mind: (bold emphasis mine)

Oh ... please! What nonsense. Can this be the same organisation which produced such famously outspoken men of the baggy green as Ian Chappell, Rod Marsh and Dennis Lillee? Are we actually in Australia? Why have so many of our sports made the colossal presumption that they can control the public statements of its stars? Do we really want our sportspeople to be a bunch of anodyne automatons who mouth nothing but empty cliches?

Whether you agree or disagree with Gilchrist is beside the point. He is an Australian. Let him speak. If he says something we all think is stupid, you can write letters and I can write columns. Talkback will have a yarn about it. Gilchrist will come back with what he thinks about what we've said and his defenders will give it in kind. Hell, before you know it, we'll be like a real live sports community, having a debate about this and that and nothing in particular!

Here, here. [Tim Blair]
