Whatever you do, don't forget the potential Leonid meteor storm that may get intense over the next day!

The other day I was using someone else's laptop and found myself frustrated with the screen. I've tested many commercial and homemade preparations over the past decade and have only found one that actually works well. Kear Screen may be on the pricey side, but it is worth every penny. An excellent gift for anyone with an LCD screen or two.

One of my favorite catalogs for interesting optical devices is from Deutscheoptik. They specialize in boutique military surplus optics (and a few other things). Lots of stuff by Leica, Zeiss and Wild ranging from rangefinders to field periscopes for spying on your neighbor's back yard.
Some of the items are expensive, but the service is good and the quality of their product is very high. Get on their mailing list - the paper catalog is much better than the online version.

A few decades ago space art was a highly desirable example of the human imagination. As telescopes (earth bound and orbiting) and astrophotography have improved the real thing has proven to be much wilder than the artist's imagination. Astrographics.com is a fine source of gallery prints suitable for hanging as well as more inexpensive fare like tshirts. Recommended!
