Be the first on your block to the the last on it with an amateur liquid rocket motor! I have no idea how well this works or how safe it is (I'm assuming it isn't in the spirit of real rocketry).
We have noted that rocketry progresses from model to high power to amateur to professional stages in technological complexity. What sets an amateur apart from the model and high power enthusiast is that the motors are generally homemade and - well - exciting.
Richard Nakka does serious stuff - up to L class motors. His motors look very professional - this is the sort of thing that I dreamed of in Jr High School. It is interesting to note that my first encounter with trying to solve differential equations was in an amateur rocketry book that came out a year or two after Sputnik. It was in the school library and was well worn by others who had a deep interest (although, to my knowledge, not deep enough to build anything).
