Another business oriented poster ... this one seems appropriate for many of us...

Thanks for pointing it out Jim.

Serious models are impressive works of art. Amazing examples are built by Fine Art Models.

Some of the trains are incredible and bring back childhood memories of much less detailed models - the Union Pacific "Big Boy" 4-8-8-4 is probably a bargain at $15,000 for those who have the money. The automobile section includes several Bugattis which are spoiled only because the engines don't run - this stuff is close to museum quality.

If you must have something that runs, Replica Engines crafts quarter scale working models. Incredible stuff - I'll take the Aurora IRL V-8.

Not scale, but incredibly impressive, are the current gas turbine powered model airplanes. It isn't uncommon to see $10,000 to $15,000 invested in a model and many are partnerships between builders and flyers (most people lack both skills). I've seen some of Bob Violett's jets fly. Very nice stuff.

Every year Garrison Keillor features the Battlefield Band and last night saw them on PHC. They are possibly the most famous celtic band and worth going to a concert if they are in your area - folks in North America should check the tour schedule. As always, live music from folks like this renders recorded music lame - you might want to listen to the PHC show archive to capture some of the energy.
