A few things fire the imagination. GPS drawing is one of them. You move a GPS unit around in two or three dimensions and use the resulting coordinate map to produce a piece of art. We've visited a few sites in the past, but the GPS Drawing page is the most comprehensive and has many new images.

A great family adventure would be to get a GPS (some are less than $100) and make some pictures. One can imagine interesting practical constraints that limit the accuracy of the drawing (at least if you are on land - being in the water is cheating unless you are in a sailboat or something with oars).
