Collaboration Dynamics, IBM to buy Rational & Web Services development update Volker's weblog has an interesting discussion thread regarding Groove collaboration. It is an extension of a thread off Groove's Discussion Forum. My opinion quite simply, is that in most organizations (corporate settings primarily), do not have incentives (in terms of employee policy & rewards) for collaboration and there are no changes in organization structure for collaboration. It is what Peter Drucker called 'a shift from a management span of control to a management span of communications'. I dug some of my old notes and information by Michael Schrage - this was from a project back in '95 for a client deploying Lotus Notes. Have to revisit this important topic to address prospective Groove clients. Just read that IBM is to buy Rational Software for $2.1bn. Got a rudimentary Amazon WS interface working - interesting stuff. The Amazon Web Services 2.0 allows you to 'talk' through two ways - an XML over HTTP or the SOAP interface.
