Information mapping. Samuel Wan is an accomplished Flash programmer and interaction designer. A while ago I pointed to his fisheye menu which, like the new Mac OS X dock, is both an elegant visual effect and a clever way to manage scarce screen real estate. Today Samuel points to this 1998 episode of This American Life, whose description begins: ... [Jon's Radio]

VERY cool use of Flash.

Ok, here's a PocketPC bitch.  I'm sitting here with my PocketPC in my cradle, working in Outlook.  ActiveSync is running and keeping everything in sync as I work.  This is neat.  However, I've found a problem to bitch about.

I just started a new Outlook note because I was on the phone and, interestingly enough, I needed to take some notes.  I write a few lines in my note in Outlook, and then I wait as the conversation progresses.  I write a few more notes and go to close my note thinking how cool it is that it's now automagically on my PocketPC.

BUT, Outlook throws an error!  It says says it cannot save the note because it has already been saved and modified.  What the hell?  The only option is an OK.  So, I hit OK praying that Outlook hasn't just lost most of my note as I fear it has.  I quickly find my note and open it to make sure...  Damn!  Outlook has only saved the first few lines.

Here's my guess.  AutoSync screwed me.  Outlook auto-saved the note, ActiveSync synced it to the PocketPC and back.  Now Outlook thinks it has been modified.  Anything I do to it after the first auto-save is going to be lost.  DAMN IT!

Where's my Palm...

A couple of ridiculously easy innovations from Phillip Pearson. [Scripting News]

Wow, forming groups of weblogs in a central blog looks really cool.  Maybe what we need to eventually do with our internal klogs.

RIAA, BSA Say They'll Drop Legislative Push. A collection of industry associations representing digital content providers said Tuesday that they will stop petitioning Congress to adopt new legislation, and instead pursue private-sector alternatives to combat piracy. [Technology News from eWEEK and Ziff Davis]

Like hacking?  Sounds like they don't want legal types involved so they can participate in fringe-legal activities.
