NY Times: Worm Hits Microsoft, Which Ignored Own Advice. [Scripting News]

Don't hey release the patches?  Well, nevermind...

The other day I had a semi-rant where I said that administrators should be shutting off everything with firewalls anyway.  It just occured to me how this might not prevent you from getting this worm.  If you have an employee who has a laptop he uses at work and home, then he could carry it in.  He could leave his laptop on his DSL or cable connection all night without any protection and his SQL Server running.  The next day he packs up, comes in to the office, and boom.  The office gets it.
