Another great article by Mark Pilgrim. This time he brings up the problem with RSS producers -- many are not producing valid XML. So, his idea is to build parse-at-all-costs parser, essentially ignoring validation. AND, his solution is in Python...

"But admirable though that is it can be very difficult translating business objectives into information resource requirements and from that into how enhanced access to information will benefit the organisation. It really does need some form of information audit, and there is no better book than The Information Audit by Sue Henczel, K.G.Saur, 2001, ISBN 3-598-24367-7. An exceptional book, and should be mandatory reading for intranet managers. An audit will soon uncover all the evidence you need to justify an intranet without the need to purchase an abacus."

A Groovy Move? Microsoft Snaps Up PlaceWare. Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it purchased Web-conferencing vendor PlaceWare for an undisclosed amount. Resulting new products will fall under the newly minted Real Time Collaboration group under former Microsoft Research employee Anoop Gupta. [Microsoft Watch from Mary Jo Foley]
Does this move Microsoft closer to competing with Groove and/or QuickPlace?

Here's a script by Mark Pilgrim that retrieves compressed RSS feeds. I think Mark may be one of the few who actually have compressed RSS feeds.

tsql-indent.el
This is an indentation function for SQL mode. It was written with Transact SQL in mind.
user-add-sql-folding-marks
This is a simple function that adds folding-mode marks to SQL sources. It is quick and dirty, but is fairly useful for me.
remove-line-boundary-in-region
This function removes all the line boundaries in a region. This, in effect, collapses all the lines in the region onto one line.
convert-camel-to-underscore
This function converts all the text that is camel cased in a particular region to underscore separated text.
