CommonDreams: "In a possible message to would-be deserters in Iraq, the US marines have charged a pensioner for not going to war in Vietnam 40 years ago."
George W. Bush, Commander-In-Chief, went AWOL, so when will we see him in jail?

The US is led by morons.
Guardian: "A Russian, who had defected to the US years earlier, still couldn't believe the orders he had received from CIA headquarters. The CIA had given him the nuclear blueprints and then sent him to Vienna to sell them - or simply give them - to the Iranian representatives to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). With the Russian doing its bidding, the CIA appeared to be about to help Iran leapfrog one of the last remaining engineering hurdles blocking its path to a nuclear weapon. The dangerous irony was not lost on the Russian - the IAEA was an international organisation created to restrict the spread of nuclear technology."

Aljazeera: "Adding a new twist to the international tension over Iran's nuclear programme, Bush made it clear few days ago that in case Israel decides to attack Iran, it will have the U.S. full support to destroy the Islamic regime's 'capacity to make an atomic bomb'."

And in Iraq the IMF helps to ruin the country further.
Progressive: "In December, the International Monetary Fund, in exchange for giving a loan of $685 million to the Iraqi government, insisted that the Iraqis lift subsidies on the price of oil and open the economy to more private investment.
As the IMF said in a press release of December 23, the Iraqi government must be committed to 'controlling the wage and pensions bill, reducing subsidies on petroleum products, and expanding the participation of the private sector in the domestic market for petroleum products'.
The impact of the IMF extortion was swift and brutal.
Since the Dec. 15 parliamentary election, fuel prices have increased five-fold."

When simple operations like arresting a war crimes suspect go badly wrong, how can we expect the NATO actions in Afghanistan to be successful?

IndexResearch: "The NATO merry-go-round in Afghanistan, driven by America's announced withdrawal of 2,500 - 4,000 (of 19,500) troops in the spring of 2006, is in overdrive.
The Dutch government is in disarray about its NATO participation in Afghanistan, and their Parliament will not be making a decision until the end of this month."

The Dutch government knows it would be madness to send more troops to Afghanistan, but on the other hand they would very much like to oblige Big Brother Bush.

CommonDreams: "The US government has plans to build a high-security prison in Afghanistan to hold terror suspects, including some who would be transferred from the controversial US naval base at Guantánamo Bay."
