Spiegel: "In an interview, Germany's chancellor, Angela Merkel, says she will plead with United States President George W. Bush to close the controversial Guantanamo prison camp, where some suspects have been held without trial since the start of the war on terror."

NewScientist: "The US Department of Defense has revealed plans to develop a lie detector that can be used without the subject knowing they are being assessed. The Remote Personnel Assessment (RPA) device will also be used to pinpoint fighters hiding in a combat zone, or even to spot signs of stress that might mark someone out as a terrorist or suicide bomber."

No, this is not literature or fiction. The Dr. Strangloves in the DoD are really existing persons. What about developing a detector of Departmental Madness?

A picture named DubyaAn.jpg We all know that George W. Bush was bought by the highest bidder. But he is also for sale on other outlets, like Amazon and eBay. There is even a farting Bush.
This is a comment on the George Bush Animated Figure: "Does this toy spontaneously lie too? Does it spout such Rovian hypnotic buzz words such as Weapons of Mass Destruction or WMD, WMD, WMD, WMD...? Does he say 'Its hard work' over and over again? Does it also blame Democrats over and over again for all of its fault? Does it open up new fronts on 'The War on Terror'? Does it come with a pocket full of mini Fox News reporters to chort and parrot its words? When you look behind it is there a little Karl Rove ducking down, hiding behind it, and pulling a string that leads to its mouth?"

Only money could bring a moron to power. Or do you think his charisma did it?

AmericanPolitics: "In yet another blow to plans to renew the Patriot Act, lawyers for the estate of George Orwell announced their intention to sue President Bush for plagiarism.
'We've felt that since its beginning, this administration has stolen much of its policy from Mr. Orwell's writings,' said attorney Will Bilyalotz, 'expressly '1984' and 'Animal Farm.' In some cases - for example, the illegal surveillance of its own citizens - this administration has lifted passages word for word from '1984'. simply changing the year does not protect the president from copyright laws.'
'Freedom is in its last throes,' grumbled Vice President Dick Cheney. 'First they take away torture, now they want to take away spying on our own citizens. What's next? Shutting down FOX News?'"
